How Long After An Incident Can I Make A CICA Claim?

If you were an adult (18 years old or over) at the time of the incident you have up to two years to begin the claim process.

Most people would chose to begin the claim as soon as possible whilst events are still fresh in their mind and easier to recall, before paperwork gets lost and also to begin the process of closure and moving on from the incident.

There are some very narrow, exceptional circumstances which we have successfully presented for our clients before to justify presentation outside of that two year window, but these are very limited and we can only advise upon reviewing your case files.

There is no need for any criminal proceedings to be completed before beginning your claim for related compensation.
