In order to qualify for an award under the Criminal Injuries Compensation ( CICA ) Scheme 2012 you must meet the following criteria:
- The incident was reported to the police within 48 hours or as soon as reasonably possible.
- Your injuries are serious enough to meet the minimum award of £1000 (we will assess this during our initial discussion with you).
- The incident happened within the last two years (in certain circumstances, usually relating to sexual abuse / assault claims the two year time limit can be waived).
- The incident occurred in England, Wales or Scotland.
- You have no unspent criminal convictions other than driving offences.
By working with you and the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority, our specialist criminal injury team can achieve an appropriate criminal injuries compensation award for your losses. We can also advise you on benefits and payments available to you if you are left permanently or temporarily disabled or unable to work.
The CICA scheme enables you to make a successful claim even if an offender is not identified, caught or convicted.
Contact our criminal injury claim specialists before you make assumptions about the likely success or failure of your case.
All claims are dealt with on a No Win, No Fee* basis and we never ask for up front payments. If we are successful we will deduct 30% including VAT from your award. This means that if you are awarded £1000 we will deduct £300 for our work and you will receive £700.
